Chris T-T

christt-logo Chris T-T arrived in London the week Labour came to power, armed with a 3-stringed guitar and one good shirt. By lunchtime he’d scored a job interview at the Press Association and a gig supporting Hefner that night. He’s lived here ever since.

T-T’s first album, Beatverse, was home-taped during two weeks’ Jury Service at Wood Green Crown Court and released in October 1999 on his Mum’s Wine Cellar record label. A month later he signed to Snowstorm after an impromptu solo gig at the London Barfly.

The follow-up album Panic Attack At Sainsbury’s included shock-tactic single Dreaming Of Injured Popstars, with which T-T took the line ‘Cliff Richard is nailed to a cross with Lou Reed’s head stuck up his arse’ onto national radio and scored a notorious near-hit.

Third album The 253 took a bus-route through north-east London and was Time Out Critics’ Choice for six weeks, as well as a Sunday Times Top 5 album Of The year. After gigs around the UK with Turin Brakes, Elbow, Quasi and Cousteau, Chris finished 2001 live on Radio One’s Evening Session, playing a twenty-minute acoustic set.

2002 brought no new album but much action. T-T and his band covered The Proclaimers for their 500 Miles ep; performed a live soundtrack to violent Japanese movie Battle Royale at Soho’s Other Cinema; played the festivals for the first time; scored a mainstream movie placement with album track Drink Beer and supported Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross at Union Chapel. Chris topped off the year by touring UK and Ireland solo in support to Ben Folds and The Divine Comedy.

T-T’s fourth album is due in Spring 2003, dragged into the limelight by February’s single release of the ridiculous Eminem Is Gay.

Chris T-T pitches his tent between the sublime and the ridiculous, having both cakes and eating them on occasion. He’s overweight, undernourished and can complete Rubik’s Cube in 150 seconds.
